A pendulum that swings up, must also swing down. It's just how the system works.
Any use of the word upswing will imply an inevitable downswing. Because the two are interlinked. It's like a marriage.
I wouldn't rule out the possibility of an infinite upswing. The universe is allegedly expanding at an increasing rate, which means it's accelerating, and it's been doing so for allegedly 13.7 Billion years. Does that mean that it will continue this accelerated expansion forever?
Probably not, but I wouldn't rule it out. For 99.9999% of poker players, assuming an infinite upswing is the incorrect way to think about it. It's the incorrect mindset to have. Because with every upswing there will almost certainly be a downswing.
This is the reason I AVOID THE WORD UPSWING IN ALL MY AFFIRMATIONS.
The proper mindset to have is that your bankroll is
Everything in your life that you want to improve, should always be increasing. None of my students have downswings. They may have a losing session here and there, but they refrain from thinking about the past events and labeling anything as an UPSWING or a DOWNSWING, or a streak of any kind.
The minute that you start to think that you are on a streak, is the minute that it'll start to manifest it, because it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
I would also be cautious of using the word STREAK. If you think you are on a losing streak, you will keep manifesting loses, because you are thinking about losing.
Thinking this losing streak must end at some point, will also put you in the wrong head space, because again you are thinking about losing.
I would also avoid the words "Winning streak" as well. Although this may help you manifest more wins with a self fulfilling prophecy, it also implies that it must come to an end. A winning streak and a losing streak are 2 sides to the same coin, and should remain outside of your mind whenever possible.
When people look at someone like Floyd Mayweather Jr, they don't think of him as being on a winning streak. They say that he's undefeated, or that he's never lost a fight.
A better way to say it is,
HE'S WON EVERY FIGHT HE'S BEEN IN.
Saying that he's undefeated, puts the word defeat in the mind, which is not beneficial to the athlete.
Anyway, back to the idea of things always increasing.
If you look at someone like Warren Buffet, his stock portfolio value is always increasing. Nobody expects his portfolio value to stop increasing.
The best poker example of this I've found is Cumicon's 5 year graph. His bankroll increased at a near perfect strait line for 5 years. That's about as consistent as you can get in the poker world. Cumicon didn't have upswings, downsings, winning streaks or losing streaks. Yes he had a few losing sessions, but a better way to think about it is an always increasing bankroll.
Start to think about things you want in your life as always increasing, and avoid streaks or swings in your thoughts.
What you think about grows. It's important to use the correct words to manifest the things you want.
That's it for now.
